“See The Able, Not The Label” Autism Awareness Event
"See The Able, Not The Label" Autism Awareness Event
A gathering specifically designed to raise awareness about Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), support individuals on the spectrum and promote acceptance and understanding within the Defiance and surrounding communities. For me, as a parent with a child on the spectrum, this autism event holds immense significance as it provides a platform for education, advocacy, and inclusion.
As a company who cares deeply about the well-being and rights of individuals with ASD, holding such an event allows us to contribute to a more inclusive society where differences are celebrated and everyone is valued for who they are. This event not only fosters a sense of community and support but also serves as a reminder of the importance of empathy, acceptance, and diversity in creating a more compassionate world for individuals with autism.
All of the money raised from this event goes directly to Good Sam’s School and the Defiance County Board of DD. With our partnership, the event has been able to raise enough money to provide all Law Enforcement vehicles in the entire Defiance County with “Cruiser Kits.” These bags provide a way for officers to interact positively and communicate with people with Sensory Processing Disorders or other disabilities, thereby avoiding a misunderstanding that could escalate a situation.
There is great hope in one day using this platform to develop a local scholarship program aimed at promoting awareness and support for autism. Such an initiative could provide essential resources for students with autism to pursue higher education or specialized training, empowering them to reach their full potential. Ultimately, this effort can help build a more supportive and equitable society where individuals with autism are given the opportunities and support they deserve.
